The
RoadRelay is probably not getting power. Check that the key is in the "On"
position, no fuses are blown, and the wiring is consistent
with what is specified in the installation manual. Verify with a
voltmeter that power is being applied from the 6-pin vehicle connector
pins to the RoadRelay. Press the "Up" arrow several times to brighten
the
display.
Why
isn't my RoadRelay reading any data and I am getting either a "RoadRelay
Data Link Failure" or "Improper Data Link Connection" error
message?
It is likely
that the one or more of the data link connections has come loose. Verify
that all the data link wires and splices are tightly connected, as specified
in the installation manual, the key is in the "On" position,
and there are no open or shorted wires and no bent connector pins.
Measure the
data link wires with a voltmeter to ensure they are in the voltage
range specified in the troubleshooting section of the installation
manual.
What
should I do if I see a "No Power From Backup Battery" error
message?
For RoadRelay 4, it is likely
that either the loop-back connector is not installed or the back-up
battery is dead. Make sure
that the 10-pin loop-back connector has been properly installed, as described
in the installation manual. Measure the back-up battery voltage on the
10-pin loop-back interface connector on the RoadRelay 4 to verify it
is not below 2.0 Volts DC. For RoadRelay 5, it is likely that the rechargeable battery is dead. If the backup battery error message does not go away after the RoadRelay 5 has been connected to vehicle power for two days, return the RoadRelay 5 to an authorized Cummins distributor or dealer to get the battery replaced. If the battery is dead, only an authorized Cummins repair facility may replace it iwthout voiding the warranty.
