After installing my
RoadRelay, why won't the display turn on?
The RoadRelay is probably not
getting power. Check that the key is in the "On" position,
the fuses are in circuit and intact, and the wiring is consistent with
what is specified in the installation manual. Verify with a voltmeter
that
power is being
applied from the 6-pin vehicle connector pins to the RoadRelay 4. Press
the "Up" arrow several times to brighten the display.
After
installing my RoadRelay, why won't the display turn off after 30
seconds with the key in the "Off" position like it's supposed
to?
It sounds
like you may have wired unswitched battery power to the switched power
input of the RoadRelay. Check the wiring to ensure it is consistent
with what is specified in the
instruction
manual.
After
installing my RoadRelay, why does the display go blank immediately
after turning the key to the "Off" position.
It sounds
like you
do not have the unswitched power wired correctly. Check the wiring
of the switched and unswitched power connections to ensure they are
consistent with what is specified in the instruction
manual.
After
installing my RoadRelay, why
am I getting a "RoadRelay Data
Link Failure" or "Improper Data Link Connection" error
message?
It is likely
that the
data link connections have not been made properly. Verify that
all the data link wires have been properly connected, as specified
in the installation manual, the key is in the "On" position,
and there are no open or shorted wires and no bent connector pins.
Measure the data link wires with a voltmeter to ensure they are in
the voltage range specified in the troubleshooting section of the installation
manual.
After
installing my RoadRelay, what
should I do if I see a "No Power From Backup Battery" error
message?
It is likely
that either
the loop-back connector is not installed (for RoadRelay 4 only) or the RoadRelay back-up battery is
dead. For the RoadRelay 4, make sure that the 10-pin loop-back connector has been properly
installed, as
described in the installation manual. Measure the back-up battery voltage
on the 10-pin loop-back interface connector on the RoadRelay 4 to verify
it is not below 2.0 Volts DC. If the battery is dead in your RoadRelay, you will need
to have it replaced at an authorized Cummins repair facility. Note that opening the RoadRelay yourself and attempting to replace the battery voids the warranty.
